The Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), obtained in 2012, covers the two names “Guérande salt” and “Guérande flower of salt”. The PGI makes it possible to :
- Enhance the value of products and know-how (preservation of traditional saltworks structures, farming methods, etc.).
- Guarantee product origin and quality (traceability, origin, controls, etc.).
- Protect these two designations at European level.
-According to the specifications, Guérande salt must come exclusively from the salt marshes of the Guérande peninsula.
